Armenia-Iran, Shahnazi-Zadeh Pipeline

description

Armenia and Iran agreed to the construction of a 217 mile oil pipeline from the Tabriz refinery in Iran to Mughri in Armenia.  The pipeline will cost $350 million and have a capacity of 70,000 bbpd.  Armenia and Iran just completed a major gas pipeline; Armenia imports some 3 million cubic meters of gas per day. Russian energy giant Gazprom has recently announced that it wishes to take part in the construction of the pipeline as well. According to both Armenian and Iranian sources, construction on this pipeline should begin in the fall of 2010.
