Iran - Turkey, Oil Refinery

Following Prime Minister Erdogan's meeting with President Ahmedinejad in Tehran, Iran and Turkey announced plans to build a crude oil refinery in Northern Iran.   The joint-venture agreement also provided for Turkish transshipment of Iranian gas to European markets through the Sam Petrol Company. Both nations have agreed to create a joint-holding company on a 50-50 basis. 35 billion cubic meters of gas will be transported from Iran to Europe annually. NIGEC will control the Iranian share.
