Iran-Turkmenistan Natural Gas Trade

description

Since 1997, the Turkmenistan-Iran Korpeje-Kurt Kui Pipeline has supplied Iran with roughly 6 BcM/year of natural gas, never exceeding 6.5 BcM/year.  Turkmenistan is keen to export more natural gas to Iran, worried about its dependence on Russia's natural gas market.  The Dovletabat-Sarakhs-
Khangiran gas pipeline, currently being built, is a joint Turkmenistan-Iran venture that seeks to raise gas trade to 12.5 BcM/year.
