Lukoil, Anaran Project Halt

description

Recent American sanctions against Iran have forced Lukoil to abandon a project in the Islamic Republic. Work at the Anaran project in Iran, estimated to hold nearly 2 billion barrels of oil at four sites, was put on hold due to Lukoil’s withdrawal. Company executives noted that if the political climate improves Lukoil will move back in, but the company does not see itself reinvesting at the site for the foreseeable future due to the volatile political climate.
