NALCO-Iran, Iranian Energy, Aluminum Investment

India's National Aluminum Company has agreed to invest Rs 7,800 cr.- Rs. 10,000 cr. ($1.687 billion to $2.16 billion) in Iran's aluminum and energy sectors.  NALCO proposed to set up a 3.10 lakh-ton smelter and 750 Mw power plant in Iran.  The company expects to complete its projects within three years.  As of February 2008, the firm was facing difficulties raising the capital required to complete the projects.

 

UPDATE: The company's project in Iran remains stalled due to politcal reasons according to NALCO's Chief Managing Director.
