Southern Asia Gas Enterprise - Undersea Pipeline

description

Due to its withdrawal from the Pakistan-Iran pipeline, India is currently in negotiations with Iran to construct an undersea pipeline between the two countries.  This pipeline will travel under the Arabian Sea and will carry Iranian and Turkmenistani gas to India.  According to SAGE, numerous investors have expressed interest in the project, including several Italian firms, though no companies have been named as partners. Further negotiations on the status of this pipeline took place in July of 2010 between the Indian Foreign Minister and the Iranian Economic Minister. This is the first time cabinet officals have discussed this pipeline.
